Drabble: Pillock

Gryphon scrollwork

It's that time again. We've had a break and now we're on to episode 9 The Puppet Show at [info]fantas_magoria

I've done a drabble. I've since learned that drabbles are 100 words. I made it, not including the title. I never realised how hard drabbles are, my stories are usually so much longer.  Oh, I just did a recount. It is 100 including the title. *head desk*

*bows to the writers who write amazing drabbles*

I hope this is something worth reading.

Pillock

Giles could smell his own sweat. He struggled against his fate but he knew it was hopeless.  He lay supine beneath the sharp blade that threatened his existence.

Of course I’ll put my head in the guillotine. Strap me in, I’ll be happy to be your assistant. Let the blade fall and my head will be cloven in two. I can see it now, written in the Council’s journals:  Rupert Giles lost his head in Sunnydale. It wasn’t much of a loss, he wasn’t using it anyway.

Pillock!

He should have known better. This was the Hellmouth, after all.

LOL I love it... And if you want to fix the word count, you could just add a "really" or something similar to the second last sentence.

Dammit! I took out a word, *very,* as in his very existence, to make it 100 and I forgot that I had counted the title.

Shoot me now. :0))))

I'm grinning from ear to ear that you love it.

LOL! These things happen.

You want to be careful...drabbling is very addictive.

Well, it was a stupid thing for Giles to do, wasn't it? Good drabble, Ares. And I know - they *are* harder than they look.

It just goes to show that Giles has his moments. *g*

I'm working on my PP fic and didn't have time to do a longer one for the Puppet Show, and get it beta'd, so thought a drabble would do.

It *was* harder than I thought.

I'm happy that it worked.

I loved Giles' inner thoughts, especially what he thought would be written in the Council journals :)

The drabble was written around that line. :0)

Thank you for your feedback.

You captured that moment of panic very well and in 100 words no less! I guess Spike was wrong about near death experiences causing Giles to think of tea ;)

It wasn’t much of a loss, he wasn’t using it anyway.
This was my favorite line. Giles' dry wit and self-depracating humor is wonderful and you captured it perfectly there.

I write short fiction regularly, but have never done a successful drabble, so kudos! Great work.

Oh my! I'm drunk on your praise. Thank you very much.

Giles has such a wonderful wit, and I'm glad that we got to see it on a regular basis. I couldn't help myself, seeing Giles lying beneath the guillotine was too good an opportunity. I thought to myself, he's smarter than that! I wonder what he's thinking when he realises what a dumb move that was.:0)

*g* a little respect for drabblers is always appreciated!

And this is a great effort - just right for the amount of time Giles had to realise what a dumb thing he'd done.

Absolutely! It's a wonder Giles made it this far! :0)

And I know you have written some wondeful drabbles. You deserve a bow.

Yes, I do remember that episode. He was in the car talking about Joyce and her acquisition (mask) and his tirade ended with "Americans!" That was hilarious. I'm honoured to think that my drabble reminds you of that.

Thank you.
